Membership with Purpose

Venture House offers fellowship and purpose. Our members contribute their talents and skills to our programs, participate in decisions on all matters relating to the operation of the Clubhouse and have opportunities for paid employment through Transitional Employment (TE) and supported employment (SE) programs.

We Welcome NYC Residents with a Mental Health Diagnosis

Our members are New York City residents (age 18 and older) with a mental health diagnosis (Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, Schizophrenia, PTSD, and others). There is no out-of-pocket cost to our members.

How do I become a member?

The first step is to call our Intake office to schedule a tour in one of the four boroughs we serve: Queens, Bronx, Brooklyn, or Staten Island.

What do I need to apply?

In order to begin your application, we will need the following documents:

  • Completed Venture House Membership Application
  • Copy of annual physical from your Primary Care Physician
  • Psychiatric Evaluation with diagnosis
  • Psychosocial History (completed by mental health professional)

To access the online application, click here. You can begin the application process online, but it must be completed in-person at your chosen location.

What happens after I submit my application?

Once our Intake staff has processed your application, you will receive a phone call to schedule your orientation.

What is the Venture House orientation process?

New members will attend the Clubhouse for two days (typically Monday & Tuesday) from 9 a.m. -1 p.m. They will participate in two of the five Clubhouse units during those days, and enjoy a complimentary lunch. After the orientation, new members will choose a unit staff to assist with personal goals, such as career, education, housing, and benefits.

Do I need insurance to become a member?

No, however, a psychiatric evaluation must be provided by an authorized practitioner prior to becoming a member.

Does Venture House provide transportation to and from the Clubhouse?

No, members are expected to arrange their own transportation services.

Since Venture House has four locations, does my membership extend to each of the Clubhouses?

Yes! Members of Venture House can participate at any one of our four locations in Queens, Staten Island, Bronx, and Brooklyn.

Does Venture House offer on-site psychotherapy?

No, members are encouraged to receive mental health counseling from outside accredited sources. If a member is looking for mental health counseling, our team can assist with locating a licensed professional.
