Caring for Your Whole Self

What does it feel like to finally have a name for something you’ve carried your whole life?

For Jesse, the answer was unexpected.

After living with sadness, and feeling overwhelmed for years, she was diagnosed with a mental health disorder. She finally had a name for the experiences that made her feel different for so long. She felt relief.

Jesse’s path to that moment was not easy. It included multiple hospitalizations and long stretches of isolation. But at Venture House, she immediately found support.

Through our media center in Queens, Jesse discovered storytelling, podcasting, writing and photography as ways to express herself, build confidence, and connect with others. Those lonely times became good days with friends.

For people living with serious mental illness, connection can change everything. DONATE TODAY and help more people find stability, belonging, and purpose.
